A hungry deer did it’s best impersonation of a giraffe as it stretched as high as it could to reach some fresh green leaves yesterday at Ludington State Park in Michigan.

A duck rested near a pond at Huizenga Park in Zeeland, Michigan today. I believe this to be a female Mallard.

Praying Mantis

I spotted this Praying Mantis as it flew at the Upper Macatawa Natural Area in Ottawa County, Michigan today. My first thought was of a hummingbird with it’s long wingspan, but I didn’t realize until it landed it was an insect. Mackinac Bridge Day and Night

A ship named Wagenborg traveled under the Mackinac Bridge Sunday in the Mackinac Straits of Michigan. The Mackinac Bridge was built in 1957 and connects the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan. The total length of the bridge is 26,372 feet.

Fallasburg Park Covered Bridge

The Fallasburg Park Covered Bridge shown today with it’s reflection in the Flat River north of Lowell, Michigan. The 100 foot long covered bridge, which is still open to vehicles, was built in 1871 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Dragonflies have been one of my favorite subjects this summer. There are so many varieties and color patterns, they make for interesting photographic subjects. This bright red example was found in Grand Haven, Michigan last August.
