The clouds appeared as a fireball behind a group of trees in Holland, Michigan today as the sun was setting. I’ve been amazed at the beautiful and colorful skies we’ve enjoyed this Winter in West Michigan.

Finding Heaven

Tree Falling from an Icicle

I discovered this icicle today as it began to melt from the rays of the sun. If you look closely, you can see the image of a nearby tree reflected upside down with blue sky and white clouds in the water droplet.
Glowing Leaf in Winter

This otherwise dull brown colored oak leaf came alive today when it was back lit by the sun. It glowed with an orange hue as I photographed it on this sunny January Winter day in West Michigan.

Western Lights

I ventured out hoping to see the Northern Lights near Lake Michigan last night. I was met with cloudy skies and decided to turn West to find some more down to Earth illumination in the form of the well lit pier and lighthouse at Grand Haven State Park.

Piercing Eyes

This Great Horned Owl, which I photographed today at the Outdoor Discovery Center in Holland, Michigan, produced a powerful look with it’s piercing yellow eyes. The Center held it’s annual Winterfest earlier today. I’ve found it to be a great place to visit to see a variety of wildlife.
