I captured this forest stream off the Black River in Holland, Michigan today after a fresh snow fall. Less than two hours later, much of the snow had melted as the temperature had risen.

A tiny ice crystal about 1/8 of an inch (3.18 mm) was suspended from a small growth coming out of some green moss on a tree trunk that I found in Ottawa County, Michigan today.

I found an interesting pattern in a pine cone today as I used my macro lens for a close view while on a walk in Holland, Michigan.
Alien Forest Found

Like an alien forest sprouting from the ground, I found these red sporophytes emerging from moss at the Allegan State Game area in Michigan today. I needed a macro lens to capture the tiny plants which were only about a quarter of an inch (6.35 mm) tall.

I discovered this icicle as it began to melt from the rays of the sun. If you look closely, you can see the image of a nearby tree reflected upside down with blue sky and white clouds in the water droplet.
