Intricate Patterns
Copyright Jeffrey Foltice
I’m always amazed at the intricate patterns in nature. This Painted butterfly is a prime example of such beautiful patterns. I used a Canon 200mm F-2.8 L lens with a generic 2X teleconverter to produce this detailed image.

Exceptional sets the last two days, Jeffrey.
Fantastic, the detail deserves admiration
Amazing!
Lovely shot!
Superb shot – beautifully sharp and lovely colour
Absolutely beautiful! You can even see one of it’s antennae is curled.
Thanks. That curl like structure is called a proboscis. The butterfly uses it like a straw when it draws nectar from flowers or salts and minerals from soil.
Amazing detail.
