Mountains of Clouds

Green Heron Surprise

There were some very dramatic looking clouds today in Holland, Michigan. As I approached a wetland area there hoping to capture a nice landscape photo, I came around a corner to find a Green Heron take flight. A golden rule I broke was that I wasn’t instantly ready with my camera after coming out of cover. But despite losing a few seconds, I managed to get the bird in flight with its colorful wings spread.
Big Red Lighthouse

I captured this image of the Holland Michigan Big Red Lighthouse, located on the shores of Lake Michigan, as a rain storm with dark clouds passed in the background yesterday. With the sun brightly illuminating the foreground, the dark clouds helped to create a nice contrast while showcasing the colorful subject. Prints are available by clicking the photo below:
