Black Swallowtail
Copyright Jeffrey Foltice
I found this beautiful Black Swallowtail butterfly yesterday in West Michigan on a very hot summer day. It flew around the edge of a steep hill in a radius of about 100 feet or so. It would fly in circles and then land nearby, so I had the opportunity to photograph it from its side and also looking down the hillside as it landed. I used a Canon 200mm F-2.8 L lens with a generic 2X convertor. I couldn’t get close enough to use my macro lens in this case.

Lightning Bursts

I captured this grouping of lightning strikes that happened in a brief moment last night over the skies of Zeeland, Michgan. It was interesting to see the color variations in several of the lightning bolts as they erupted from the clouds.
