Common Mergansers Formation

I found this flock of Common Mergansers flying low over snow covered ice in Ottawa County, Michigan yesterday. The sun started to emerge from the clouds just as I took the photo, helping the color of the ducks to stand out a bit more from the white background.

They were over a lake/channel that was frozen over with snow. The background is actually snow, not sky
