Comfortable Surroundings

Copyright Jeffrey Foltice

I decided to look through my files this weekend and post a couple interesting images that I have been meaning to for a while now. This particular photo was of a Killdeer resting on its nest earlier this year. Eggs laid by Killdeer look very similar to the surrounding stones which is the reason they feel most comfortable nesting in gravel filled areas such as this. Nice pic! In the spring we see a lot of these in plowed farm fields in central Ohio.

It’s wonderful that you were able to capture such a special, still moment – those are rare (at least when photographers like me are around!).
