Colorful Caterpillar

Caterpillar

I found this colorful caterpillar on a reed recently in a wetland area of Zeeland, Michigan. Perhaps someone reading this can comment on what type of caterpillar it could be.

I don’t know the type but I’m always amazed at the patterns and colours found in nature.

Beautiful critter. We found a very similar one in our garden last week which turned out to be a moth caterpillar. It was a yellow-tail moth which is fluffy and white all over and the female has a yellow spur of fur on its back.
