Portrait in the Sun

I’ve noticed that many blog visitors these days also enjoy people photos and portraits. So I decided to combine them in this post of a photo I took with the sun setting in the background over lake Michigan behind the model. I hope you like it :)

Looking through my files I ran across these cute baby mute swans, or cygnets, I photographed as they swam with their parents in West Michigan.

Shades of Blue

The waters of Lake Michigan can look different minute to minute as this photo I took seems to demonstrate. The view from an overlook in St. Joseph, Michigan shows a variety of marine craft including a sail boat which are dwarfed by the huge lake. I found the variations in blue and the patterns they created in the water to be very interesting visually and ever changing. Wetland Beauty

I found this Great Blue Heron perched on a tree root in a Zeeland, Michigan wetland area. It was watching for fish from the higher vantage point the roots provided over the surrounding water.

I’ve had several requests for prints from visitors  since I began posting my outdoor and nature photography. I have uploaded them to

where they can be ordered. If you have a favorite image I haven’t uploaded there, just let me know and I’ll be sure to add it to those you can order. Thanks for visiting!

Tranquility

I attempted to capture the tranquility at day’s end in Holland, Michigan as the sun was setting with this image. Golden/orange light reflects of the ice of Lake Macatawa in the foreground.

Log Slide

Looking through my files I found this photo I took in the upper peninsula of Michigan, west of Grand Marais. In the old days, logs were sent down a log chute to the waters of Lake Superior. Now everyone can enjoy the picturesque beauty of the shoreline.

Day’s End

I captured this moment yesterday as the sun was departing for the day over the cold and icy waters of Lake Michigan near the state park in Holland. Mounds of ice can be seen in the foreground with the open waters of the big lake beyond.

Ice Light

Winter tries to hold on tightly this Spring in Michigan. I found these formations of ice on the Pere Marquette lighthouse yesterday in Muskegon, Michigan along the shores of the big lake.

Sand Mushroom

As the mixture of sand and ice remain, nature creates sculptures when the ice partially melts. I found this example that to me looked much like a mushroom on the beach sands at Pere Marquette in Muskegon, Michigan yesterday.
