I used a longer exposure to capture the movement of this partially frozen West Michigan waterfall today. I liked the tonal range of the image and converted it to monochrome.
Snow in Spring… Snowy Owl

It was a great surprise to find a Snowy Owl still around this Spring in West Michigan today. It looked like his claws were ready for hunting, although with the snow gone, he might stand out a bit more than normal with his white feathers.
Mountain in the Sky

There were huge awe inspiring clouds over West Michigan today. This one appeared to me as a snow covered mountain in the sky, lit from behind by the sun.

I was happy to have the opportunity to capture this beautiful Snowy Owl in flight today as I traveled through Muskegon County in Michigan. It’s starting to feel like Spring as Temperatures rose to about 60 degrees!

I captured this forest stream off the Black River in Holland, Michigan today after a fresh snow fall. Less than two hours later, much of the snow had melted as the temperature had risen.

I discovered this icicle as it began to melt from the rays of the sun. If you look closely, you can see the image of a nearby tree reflected upside down with blue sky and white clouds in the water droplet.

I found this Snowy Owl today in Muskegon County, Michigan. He seemed to be a bit tired after being out in the sunshine all day as I caught him yawning.
Western Lights

I ventured out hoping to see the Northern Lights near Lake Michigan last night. I was met with cloudy skies and decided to turn West to find some more down to Earth illumination in the form of the well lit pier and lighthouse at Grand Haven State Park.

Torn Sky
