A Taste of the Sun

Copyright Jeffrey Foltice

I walked past this flower, but its glow caught the corner of my eye and I went back to investigate. It was beautifully illuminated by the sun. I decided to use my Canon 50mm F-2.5 lens to reveal the details and vibrant colors of the flower, including orange, yellow, green and pink. Heavenly Coastal Waters – Or?

I found this in my files from a photo shoot I did a couple of years ago that I wanted to share here. A colorful shoreline by a heavenly tropical Island with clouds reflecting in ocean waters? Or, in reality, clouds lit dramatically after the sun had set. The high contrast, color and texture of a linear cloud bank brought to mind thoughts of an ocean shoreline :)

Day’s End

I captured this moment yesterday as the sun was departing for the day over the cold and icy waters of Lake Michigan near the state park in Holland. Mounds of ice can be seen in the foreground with the open waters of the big lake beyond.

Beauty at Dusk

The sky can seem to glow afire at times over Lake Michigan as the sun sets. This makes it one of my favorite subjects to photograph. I was fortunate to capture this awe inspiring scene over the big lake at the end of the day.

As I photographed the sun among the clouds recently, I thought of it as a landscape in the sky, hence the title “Skyscape”.

Edge of the Earth

The sky was ablaze with color over the weekend as the sun was setting below the waters of Lake Michigan. I enjoyed this spectacular view last Sunday from my vantage point on the beach at Grand Haven State park in Ottawa County, Michigan.

End of the Day

I had the opportunity this week to see another beautiful Michigan sunset. I happened to be near an open field with a tree line on the horizon which framed the setting sun nicely.

Morning Sun with Wings

I photographed a sulphur butterfly this morning in a West Michigan park as it was warming up from the sun. Its brightly colored yellow/golden wings mirrored the golden sun as it rose to warm the creature. Fortunately, this gave me the opportunity to move in close enough to capture a detailed image before it flew off. I used my Canon 200mm F-2.8L Lens with a 2x convertor making it the equivalent of an 400mm F-5.6. (Click on this or any of my photos to see an enlarged version)

Morning Sunburst

I enjoyed a spectacular sunrise this morning and was happy with the thought of sharing it here. This was taken near Hudsonville, Michigan where there were a few opportunities to find open fields in an agricultural setting. Fortunately, this offered more of a clear view to the horizon. Reaching for the Sun

The sun peaked out between the clouds recently as I found this flower seeming to soak in its rays. The colors seemed to glow as I captured the image of natural beauty in Ottawa County, Michigan.
