Surviving the Drought

I found this yellow flower in the Upper Macatawa Natural Area of Ottawa County, Michigan yesterday. Despite the area having no rain for over three weeks, along with temperature regularly reaching over 90 degrees and sometimes over 100, this flower seemed to be doing well.
Praying Mantis

I spotted this Praying Mantis as it flew at the Upper Macatawa Natural Area in Ottawa County, Michigan today. My first thought was of a hummingbird with it’s long wingspan, but I didn’t realize until it landed it was an insect.
