Pink Surprise

I found this little pink colored surprise waiting for me outside my door today and had to share it here. It actually was quite large for moths I’ve seen, this one measuring about 4 inches wingtip to wingtip. Its been a while since I posted, hopefully I’ll have more time the rest of this summer. In the meantime, enjoy nature’s work of art here 🙂

Note: A good friend of mine pointed out that this is probably an Imperial Moth. Here’s a link with more info 🙂

    1. The closest I could find was the Rosy Maple moth Dryocampa rubicunda (Fabricius, 1793). But that seems to be too small, because they are said to be about 2 inches ( 5.2 Centimeter ), while this one was about twice at big at 4 inches, 10.16 centimeters. Thanks for asking 🙂
