House Finch

This cheerful sounding little House Finch flew in for a visit today. It looks like there is a lot more activity with the birds in my area. Perhaps many of them are passing through while some will be building nests nearby soon.

All Ears

This little rabbit perked its ears up for a moment while in the middle of nibbling on a few seeds that had fallen to the ground from a nearby bird feeder. I’ve noticed a larger variety of wildlife beginning to emerge as the weather is warming up 🙂

Sign of Spring

This morning I saw the first robin of the year here as the skies were sunny and beginning to melt the recent snowfall. Its been a mild winter in Southwest Michigan, although the month of March has been colder and had its share of snowfall so far. I’m looking forward to no more snow soon until next winter 🙂

Passing Through

These starlings paused to rest as they seemed to be passing through the area. I’ve noticed bird activity starting to pick up lately. Despite recent snowfall, they seem to sense Spring is on the way 🙂

Sand Dune

I spotted this group of children as they climbed down a large sand dune along the shore of Lake Michigan today. Giving a sense of scale to an image can add impact, especially when a given subject is as large as this sand dune was.

Day of the Chicken

Today I had some unexpected visitors looking to get their share from a bird feeder’s overflow. They didn’t seem to mind my photographing them at the time as long as they got their lunch. Although the rooster gave me a pretty tough look as he walked away seeming to warn me not to mess with him or those under his protection 🙂

Moonlit Flight

The best time to see the Supermoon in my area of Michigan was tonight. I was fortunate to also see this flight of Sandhill Cranes flying in formation as the moon was rising.

Pink Surprise

I found this little pink colored surprise waiting for me outside my door today and had to share it here. It actually was quite large for moths I’ve seen, this one measuring about 4 inches wingtip to wingtip. Its been a while since I posted, hopefully I’ll have more time the rest of this summer. In the meantime, enjoy nature’s work of art here 🙂

Note: A good friend of mine pointed out that this is probably an Imperial Moth. Here’s a link with more info 🙂

In Touch with Nature

With the sun shining brightly today, I decided to take a journey outdoors to get in touch with nature and at the same time hopefully find a few subjects worthy of capturing with my camera. You can be the judge if I succeeded 🙂
